Webster Technique
Chiropractic During Pregnancy
Chiropractic care during pregnancy is used to help support the natural process of pregnancy and birth. Chiropractors support the innate intelligence of the body to process and heal on its own. We use a specific adjusting technique during pregnancy called the Webster technique.
BOTH OUR DOCTORS ARE CERTIFIED IN THE WEBSTER TECHNIQUE!
Why The Webster Technique?
The definition of the Webster technique is βThe Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved.β
In other words, the Webster technique is used to balance the pelvis which helps the pelvis and uterus function better. The technique reduces stress on the ligaments and muscles which makes pregnancy and birth more comfortable and helps allow for optimal space for the baby to grow throughout pregnancy.
What is being assessed during the adjustment?
The technique focuses on making sure that the bones, muscles, and ligaments around the uterus are aligned and relaxed. The bones that are being assessed and adjusted are the sacrum and the pubic symphasis. The muscles being released are the piriformis and psoas muscles and the ligaments being released are the sacro-tuberous ligaments and the round ligament.
