A Letter of Gratitude

This is my favorite time of day early, early mornings when I’m the only one up sitting in a chair in our living room with only our two dogs hanging out with me and a fully lit up Christmas tree……in the dark ((love)). On this day, New Years Eve, I’m sitting here reflecting on the year 2019 was. Here are my top three most grateful things of 2019…

MY TRIBE

I love this quote.

“Be around the light bringers, the magic makers, the world shifters, and the game shakers. They challenge you, break you open, uplift + expand you. They don’t let you play small with your life. These heartbeats are your people. These people are your tribe.”

2019 was a year of finding these people and keeping them close. Holy cow have we found a tribe. I walk in the office and all of you guys are part of that tribe. You make coming to “work” a joy. There was not a day that I dreaded heading in. I love this place and the people that fill it. It fills my heart to see new moms connecting with other new moms, established moms offering wholesome advice, smiles to strangers as they meet and smiles from long lost friends as they reconnect. TRUENORTH was created to be a safe haven. A place to set our differences aside and love and support one another on our journeys of motherhood, fatherhood, childhood, whatever. I challenge you in 2020 to find YOUR people, stick with them and see how much lighter and happier you become.

THE HEALTH OF MY KIDS

Wow! Sometimes you get stuck in your own little world but when you open up, do research, see the stats…..holy buckets. I won’t say my kids are the perfect vision of health (nobody is) but I can say at ages 7, 4 and 1.5 none have ever had an antibiotic, medication, toxic junk-nothing. That does not mean that they haven’t ever been sick. They have each had a handful of “colds.” But that is GOOD! Their little immune systems are so strong. We support their bodies with what it needs during those times and they get better without destroying their gut from all the detrimental side effects of antibiotics and meds. I can’t even tell you how many times all the crud has been going around school or daycare and they haven’t ever picked it up. However, don’t be fooled that they are just lucky…NO….we work for that. And we work hard. We are proactive with our health. We have health habits that we do each and every day. We don’t wait for a sickness to start trying to be healthy. So yes, it is work but daaaaaannnng it is worth it. I’m so grateful for how healthy these little gems are. Although it is frustrating for them at times I know they will appreciate the values we have ingrained as adults.

CHANGE

Ha! Yes, I’m putting change…The old me would hate this so much. I’m a creature of habit. I like things to be the same…well I did. Have you seen how much we CHANGED this year in the office alone? Wow, again….my tribe…they pushed me to change and make the changes. We did it. AND I LOVE IT!!! In 2019 we changed our name, we rebranded the office and gave EVERYTHING an uplift. There is still so much to do and I am so excited for all the things to unravel this year…I’m just telling you the five year plan is BIG and EXCITING…(hold on folks. Hee hee!)

Cheers to a Healthy and Prosperous 2020!

Much Love and Gratitude,
Dr. Katie
